March Sit & Stroll: Cancelled

This program has been cancelled.

Stellaluna by Janell Cannon

March 1, 2024 | 9:00 – 10:00 am

We will have time to discuss the parts of bats, their importance in the world and local ecosystems, as well as how they are similar yet different to birds. Stellaluna the bat was raised by birds, and while they had many similar qualities, there were some that made Stellaluna question herself and her differences.

Once we are done with our indoor activities we will head outside for a short nature hike where we will look and listen for birds, as well as play a bat echolocation game!

Sit & Stroll Nature series is for children 2+ years old and an adult to explore nature in fun, hands-on ways! Each month we will connect to a new theme through stories, activities and outdoor exploration at the preserve!

Each child must attend with an adult (at no extra charge). Siblings two and under are free to attend with an older sibling.

This program requires pre-registration and pre-payment. Registration must occur one week prior to the event. If the event has an attendance of 15 or fewer, the event will be cancelled for that month. You will receive a reminder email the week of programming with more details.

If you registered for a program and cannot attend, you may donate your ticket fee or use the ticket for another session (must be discussed with naturalist prior).

Guided Ecology Hikes at Bubolz

April 20, 2024 | 9:00-10:00 am

April 23, 2024 | 5:00-6:00 pm

This is a free event open to all in partnership with the Performing Arts Center!

Prior to attending Into the Canyon: Exploring a National Treasure with Pete McBride and Kevin Fedarko at the PAC, enjoy a special Ecology Walk at the Bubolz Nature Preserve calling attention to the human impact on the environment. While the differences between the habitats and biological communities of the Grand Canyon that Pete and Kevin explored are vast, the very real threat to all habitats and communities around the country due to human behavior is a crucial, common tie. Space is limited on each walk and registration is required. This event is free with community support from Community First Credit Union.
