There are no refunds for cancellations; substitutes are permitted. Refunds will be issued for programs cancelled by Bubolz due to low registration.

Night Hike 

October 11th, 2024 | 7:00-8:30 pm

Come and explore the nature preserve in a whole new way. During this program, discover the sights, sounds, and beauty of nature at night as we go for a hike through our prairies and forests. Please no light up shoes, flashlights, headlamps, etc. We want our eyes to adjust to the dark.

GPS/Geocaching

November 23rd, 2024 | 9:00-11:00 am 

Join us for a GPS and Geocaching adventure. Participants will learn the basics of geocaching – how it works, what is needed, and then go out on our designed trail in search of caches.

Age Level: 8-14

Winter Survival

January 18th, 2025 | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm 

Put your survival skills to the test! Groups will learn the basics of how to survive and what is needed versus wanted. They will then work together to build shelters and warming fires in an attempt to survive a Wisconsin winter.

Homes & Habitats

February 1st, 2025 | 9:00-11:00 am 

Join us as we learn about the animals that call Bubolz their home. We will explore pelts and skulls of  mammals and go for a hike throughout the different habitats searching for homes along the way. We will even make a small animal home and put our skills to the test.

Snowshoeing 

February 1st, 2025 | 12:30 – 2:30 pm

February 15th, 2025 | 9:00 – 11:00 am 

Participants will go on a snowshoe adventure. They will learn a little about how snowshoes work, collect the proper gear, practice a bit, and then go out on the trails. This program is weather dependent as we need a specific amount of snow.

Sap to Syrup 

March 15th, 2025 | 9:00 – 11:00 am or 12:30 – 2:30 pm

Join us for a hike as we explore Maple Syrup Season in Wisconsin. Participants will learn the history of maple syrup and how it is done today. You will get a chance to see the process from start to finish including tapping a tree, cooking, and sampling the finished product over ice cream.

Art in Nature

April 12th, 2025 | 12:30-2:30 pm 

From a blue sky to a bird’s song to a white cedar forest, nature can give you lots of ideas for art! Join us as we explore the outdoors and use what we see, hear, and feel to create an art project.

Insects

Join us for a morning insect hunt. Participants will explore the prairie and ponds in search of late season insects. They will learn about life cycles, parts of the insect, and some of the more common ones found at the Preserve. Wear shoes or boots that can wet or muddy.

Renewable Energy

Participants will explore renewable energy sources at the preserve. They will learn about the state-of-the-art Microgrid and its ability to produce, store and manage clean energy. The participants will explore various sources of energy through hands on experiments with solar and wind.
