Educate Today, Preserve for Tomorrow
Help Rebuild the Trails at Bubolz Nature Preserve
At Bubolz, everything begins on the trails. They’re the living paths that carry every class, family, and weekend wanderer from prairie to pond; the hallways to our outdoor classroom. These routes make learning, wellness, and connection possible for our community. But age, shifting water levels, and freeze-thaw cycles have worn them down and limited access just when they’re needed most.
Originally laid more than 50 years ago – today, rebuilding is essential. We’re raising $765,000 to rebuild the most-loved sections of our trail system so more kids, families, and classrooms can learn and explore outdoors year-round. The new GEOWEB® design will stand up to water, erosion, and Wisconsin’s elements, ensuring visitors can access this treasured resource for decades to come.

Already Funded: Momentum You Can See
Today, we are seeking your help to rebuild our trails – but we have also been busy behind the scenes paving the way on other exciting projects. Thanks to generous partners, these project are already moving forward:
- Reforestation Nursery
The emerald ash borer has taken a devastating toll on our forests. But we’re fighting back. A new, onsite nursery will help us replant and renew the forest, supporting a thriving, biologically diverse ecosystem. Made possible through a lead gift by Faith Technologies Incorporated, with additional support from Great Northern Corporation and Mary Dresser.
- Preservation Pavilion
A space for field trips, educational programs, weddings, and community gatherings that’s surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. The new pavilion will bring people together in all seasons and all weather, while fostering connection and countless memories. Made possible through a lead gift by Mary Beth Nienhaus, with additional support from Bergstrom Automotive and Mary Dresser.
- Gathering Areas
We’re creating two additional outdoor gathering spaces where visitors can rest, reflect, and recharge. These scenic spots will invite quiet moments of connection with nature’s calming presence. Made possible by SECURA and Seifert Family Foundation.
- Learning Lookout Shelter
Rain or shine, learning must go on. A new teaching shelter will give students and program participants a space to take cover from the weather while they stay focused on learning and exploring.
- Expanded Natural Playscape
Bubolz is a place where kids fall in love with nature, and we’re making it even more magical for them! By expanding our natural playscape with a spiderweb climber, we will fuel creativity and adventure, offering hands-on exploration for children of all ages. Made possible by Mary Dresser.
