Dog Sledding: Meet & Greet (SOLD OUT)

This event is Sold Out. Meet Jim Feyen and his dogs from the Siberian Outpost. Jim will start out the program inside with a presentation about the history of dog sledding and what it takes to run a kennel and a dog sled team. If conditions permit, he may do a short run with the dogs. Finally, participants will be able to meet the dogs and ask any questions. There will be NO RIDES. Cost: $10 a person (4 and under free) Registration opens November 1st at 12 am.

Join us for a GPS and Geocaching adventure. Scouts will learn the basics of geocaching – how it works, what is needed, and then go out on our designed trail in search of caches. This adventure will meet requirements for the Geocaching Badge.

Join us for a morning insect hunt. Scouts will explore the prairie and ponds in search of late season insects. They will learn about life cycles, parts of the insect, and some of the more common ones found at the Preserve. Wear shoes or boots that can wet or muddy. This adventure will cover requirements in the Bug Badge.

Come to Bubolz and learn how to respect nature and protect the environment while on a future camping trip. Learn the leave no trace principals, how make your own solar oven out of a pizza box, and proper campfire etiquette. Go for a hike at the preserve while recording wildlife and play a leave no trace game. This program will cover requirements for the Eco Camper Badge.

Complete an Eco Hike, learn about the leave no trace principals and how to respect wildlife, and discover different ways to be kind to others while you are in the outdoors. Brew Ski

Brew Ski at Bubolz will take place on Friday, Feb, 10, bringing together snow, craft beer, wine, and cocktails! With fun on tap from 5 pm-8:30 pm, participants will kick off their Brew Ski experience out on the Preserve’s 1 mile snowshoe or 1.5 mile ski trail illuminated by candles and moonlight. Warm up in the Lodge inside the Bubolz Nature Center where you will sample beers, wines and cocktails and warm food!

This event is designed for ages 21 and over.

Come out to the preserve and enjoy a snowshoe hike or cross country ski during the evening hours. Both trails will be lit up with luminaries. This event may be cancelled or changed to a hike if there is a lack of snow to rent out equipment.
